Last Night’s Opening
Sat, December 4th, 10

For those of you who made it last night, I don’t have to tell you that the gallery was teeming with people out for Gallery Walk! Helen and Rob’s works are a great match for each other in that they both have a classical feel with a dose of whimsy. Through the Music has been dying to get Helen featured in the gallery and we couldn’t have made a better choice than pairing her up with Rob. Rob‘s been showing with us at the gallery consistently for the last few years in December and he never disappoints. One wonders how in the heck he can be so prolific not only in the amount of pots he has in his inventory but also in the seemingly limitless endearing doodles of objects and shapes each of his pieces bare. Mike Roberts was not able to join us for the opening due to a prior commitment down in Raleigh, NC for his friend Shane Darwent‘s solo exhibition at Rebus Works. However, his sound-scapes were present and well received. The dreamy instrumentals were a beautiful addition to the ambiance of the show. We missed you Mike but hope the show in Raleigh went well for you and Shane! If you missed the opening, you haven’t missed the show… Helen and Rob will be showing at Through the Music all month until December 29th, so get yourselves down there to see a fantastic exhibit!

This Friday’s Opening!
Wed, December 1st, 10

Come check out our newest show this Friday during Gallery Walk!

Rob Cartelli, our regular December artist, is showing off his beautiful functional porcelain ceramics that are inspired by historical pottery, Modernism, and minimalism. The pieces are wheel-thrown by hand and decorated and glazed simply to accentuate the forms.

This year he is joined by Helen O’Donnell of Twin Vixen Press. Helen’s original etchings and oil paintings are largely inspired by nature, be it the landscape of the west coast, the Vermont Fall or the coast of Maine.

And for a little something different this time…. Mike Roberts of Wooden Dinosaur has added a sound installation of soundscapes that he describes as “an abstract, electro-acoustic, non obtrusive song cycle of about twenty minutes,” that we’ll be playing on a loop to make sure everyone that comes by gets to check it out!
