Gifts from the Earth: Ceramic Artists from Stephen Procter’s Studio
Sun, November 27th, 11
For the month of December, TTM will be featuring the work of ceramic artists from Stephen Procter’s studio. The show will open with a reception on the December 2nd Gallery Walk from 5:30 to 9:30 pm.

Procter, best known for his monumental garden vessels, shares his Cotton Mill studio with eight other ceramic artists. For this show, “Gifts from the Earth,” he and seven of them will be displaying a dazzling variety of decorative and functional work in clay.
• Teta Hilsdon has a large local following developed over thirty years of selling intricately carved mugs, bowls and plates in galleries and craft fairs across New England.
• Chuck DeWolfe has worked, taught and shown at major pottery centers such as Penland School of Crafts, Portland College of Art and the Archie Bray Foundation.
• Robby Feinberg has worked with clay for three decades and makes sturdy functional ware in the country potter tradition.
• Monica Hastings brings a finely honed sense of line and balance to her elegant forms, as well as whimsical sense of the unexpected.
• Martina Lantin, professor of ceramics at Marlboro College, makes sensuous tableware with complex and often playful surfaces that are decidedly contemporary while evoking the past.
• Lucinda Alcorn makes hand-built and thrown vessels that explore the range of clay’s tactile qualities.
• Willie Finkel is known for the precision of his delicate forms and daring glaze combinations.
• Stephen Procter will show a few of his large vessels alongside tableware, vases and other small vessels made especially for the gift-giving season.
“I love the way a pot marries earth and spirit,” said Procter, “and this show demonstrates the enormous range of possible results. The variety of approaches, temperaments and backgrounds represented here is really remarkable.”
“I feel so lucky to be able to share my studio with this bunch of people. And now this show is a welcome opportunity for us to present ourselves to the public as an informal group.”
If you can’t make it on Gallery Walk night come on by throughout the month from December 2nd-28th.
TTM’s hours are M-Th 10am-8pm, F&Sa 10am-10pm and Su 11am-5pm. We will be closed on Sunday, December 25th in observance of Christmas Day. Q’s? call: eight-o-two-779-3188 or e-mail: throughthemusicgallery(at)yahoo dot com

June featuring: Ellen Madden and Ross Smart, Opening June 3rd
Wed, May 25th, 11

Through a mix of printmaking and photography, Ellen Madden explores her relationship with the natural world and plays with our perception of it. In searching for a sense of place, Ellen draws inspiration from collective moments in and between the American Southwest and Northeast. Calling attention to the smallness and the expansiveness of landscape, Ellen is looking for evidence of human presence and an understanding of how we shape, and are shaped by the world around us.
While once or twice being mentioned in the same sentence as Edward Gorey and Dr. Suess, Ross Smart tends to stick to black and white pen and inks or scratchboards. When brave, Ross may venture into watercolors. His work is humorous with a slight dark side that is highly influenced by both outsider art and folk art.
The opening will be held during the Gallery Walk on June 3rd from 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm. If you can’t make it during the Gallery Walk, TTM is open throughout the month from June 3rd through the 22nd.
